Regulatory Affairs Officer – Food & Cosmetics
Location: UK (fully remote role within UK only)
Salary: up to £40,000 + bonus
Overview of the Role
We are seeking a motivated Regulatory Professional to join as a consultant within the food and cosmetic sectors, primarily covering UK and EU markets. You will work with global brands, providing expert advice to achieve product compliance or launch new products.
You will engage with technical clients, regulatory authorities, and innovative brand owners. This diverse role offers opportunities for continuous professional growth to support our clients effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform formulation and label reviews for nutritional and cosmetic products, including food supplements and general foods, ensuring compliance with UK and EU regulations, and suggest adaptations for marketability.
- Submit food supplement notifications in various EU member states.
- Manage cosmetic product notifications in the UK and EU, review and create Product Information Files (PIFs), and advise on claim substantiation.
- Write novel food dossiers, submit to authorities, and liaise during evaluation procedures.
- Maintain high-quality records and documentation related to all business areas.
- Assess and prioritize projects with limited client input.
- Provide regulatory support and advice to other business areas.
- Liaise with suppliers, clients, development partners, and regulatory bodies.
- Support or coordinate with the copy approval team for project completion.
- Engage in continuous professional development in food, supplements, cosmetics, or consumer goods.
- Assist the Regulatory Affairs Manager in developing departmental systems and procedures.
- Contribute to business growth through proposals, meetings, presentations, and training.
- Participate in client and authority meetings as needed.
- Support marketing and business development activities, attend industry events, and create promotional content.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- At least 2 years of direct Regulatory Affairs experience in food, supplements, cosmetics, or consumer goods.
- Scientific academic qualification or extensive relevant experience in pharmaceuticals or food sectors.
- Knowledge of EU and GB guidance for foods, supplements, and cosmetics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other applications.
- Ability to solve routine problems, take initiative, and make informed decisions.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and limited supervision.
- Knowledge of homeopathic products and traditional herbal medicines is a plus.
- Proficiency in additional languages or experience working with EU authorities is desirable.
- Understanding of QA principles like HACCP or ISO 22716:2007 and GMP.
