Job Description

The L&G Regulatory Affairs Manager will play a vital role in delivering the Group's regulatory strategy with responsibility for proactively managing L&G's relationship with the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and Bank of England (BoE) through supporting SMFs prepare for interviews and manage responses to key regulatory developments published by the PRA. In addition, the role holder will manage and maintain the Group Regulatory Engagement Policy in line with L&G's Risk Framework.What you'll be doing:

  • Setting, maintaining and managing the Regulatory Engagement Policy ensuring Divisional teams comply with the requirements and breaches are appropriately escalated and reported, and overall to ensure the delivery of fair customer outcomes, and appropriate risk mitigation in line with our Conduct Risk appetite
  • Maintaining positive and transparent regulatory relationships on behalf of the Group and its regulated entities in relation to the PRA including ensuring SMFs are appropriately briefed in advance of regulatory meetings, interviews and investigations and information requests and actions are responded to within appropriate timeframes
  • Coordinating groupwide consultation responses to the PRA and ensure appropriate read across to and consideration for publications by other regulatory bodies (e.g. FCA, BMA)
  • Operating as the technical expert on PRA regulatory matters across the Group. Responding to technical queries, hosting of awareness raising events, such as lunch and learns, to help other members of Risk to upskill
  • Ongoing review, analysis, and interpretation of management information from across L&G. Building on this to contribute to thought leadership, reports for governance fora and identify areas for further consideration / oversight
  • Responsible for the integrity of records maintained within the Regulatory Affairs team including in respect of regulatory interactions and provide assurance to the Head of Regulatory Affairs and Colleague Conduct, and Information Security and Data Protection functions that all aspects of data protection, retention and deletion requirements are met in line with company requirements and regulatory expectations
  • Preparing regular reports for Board and Executive committees on the relationship with the PRA and progress against PSM actions, including how well SMF owners are meeting their responsibilities
  • Leading in all matters regarding the management of the Regulatory Affairs (PRA) team ensuring that management discretion is used in a consistent manner and that the area follows the Group's policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement to maximise business performance.
Qualifications

Who we're looking for:
  • Strong knowledge of insurance, investment management and retirement products/sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of the PRA Rulebook and associated documents so that relevant rules and guidance can be identified and interpreted quickly.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the regulatory priorities for the sectors and markets in which L&G operates.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure high quality delivery of management information and presentations in meetings and other forums.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work effectively, both individually and within a team.
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with management and external parties.
  • Ability to deliver practical solutions to problems and implement improvements to systems, processes, or controls.
  • Extensive experience in financial services, preferably life, pensions, and asset management sectors.
  • Excellent at providing technical compliance and risk advice and guidance which is well calibrated with consideration of business and regulatory priorities.
  • Strong experience and comfortable influencing at all levels.
  • Sound judgement in the effective management of issues.
  • Strong drafting skills.
  • Logical thinking in the management / collation of regulatory applications / returns.
  • Experience in people management/supervisory roles with responsibility for performance management and employee wellbeing.
