Job Description

The L&G Regulatory Affairs Manager will play a vital role in executing the Group's regulatory strategy. Responsibilities include managing relationships with the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and Bank of England (BoE), supporting Senior Management Function (SMF) interviews, and responding to regulatory developments published by the PRA. The role also involves maintaining the Group Regulatory Engagement Policy aligned with L&G's Risk Framework.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and manage the Regulatory Engagement Policy, ensuring compliance across divisions and escalation of breaches, aiming for fair customer outcomes and risk mitigation.
  2. Maintain positive regulatory relationships with the PRA and ensure SMF teams are prepared for meetings, investigations, and information requests, responding timely.
  3. Coordinate responses to PRA consultations and ensure alignment with other regulators like FCA and BMA.
  4. Serve as the technical expert on PRA matters, responding to queries and hosting educational events to upskill colleagues.
  5. Review and interpret management information, contributing to reports and identifying areas for oversight.
  6. Ensure the integrity of regulatory records, compliance with data protection, and proper documentation of interactions.
  7. Prepare reports for the Board and Executive on PRA relationships and progress on regulatory actions.
  8. Lead the Regulatory Affairs team, ensuring adherence to policies and maximising business performance.
Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Strong knowledge of insurance, investment management, and retirement products/sectors.
  • Deep understanding of the PRA Rulebook and relevant guidance.
  • Awareness of regulatory priorities in L&G's sectors and markets.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Attention to detail and effective teamwork skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with management and external parties.
  • Practical problem-solving skills and process improvement capabilities.
  • Extensive experience in financial services, especially life, pensions, and asset management sectors.
  • Proven ability to provide technical compliance and risk advice.
  • Experience in influencing at all levels and managing issues judiciously.
  • Strong drafting skills and logical approach to regulatory applications.
  • Experience in people management, including performance management and employee wellbeing.
