An established industry player is seeking a passionate Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their small animal team. In this dynamic role, you will provide exceptional surgical nursing care and play a pivotal part in training future veterinary professionals. Your responsibilities will include performing nurse consultations, assisting in diagnostics, and engaging in dental nursing tasks. With a commitment to professional development and a supportive work environment, this role offers a unique opportunity to enhance your skills while making a meaningful impact on animal care. If you are dedicated to veterinary excellence and looking for a fulfilling career, this position is perfect for you.
We are excited to offer an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, team-oriented nurse to join our growing small animal nursing team at Avondale Vets.
In this role, you will work under the guidance of our Head Veterinary Nurse, providing high-level surgical nursing care to support a wide range of first opinion medical and surgical cases. You will have the opportunity to be involved in training student veterinary nurses and be encouraged to utilise all of your nursing skills. This includes performing nurse consultations, providing in-patient medical care, and assisting with diagnostic work such as cytology and urinalysis. You will also play a key role in dental nursing, including taking and processing dental radiographs and performing oral scaling and polishing. You will be supported by our dedicated reception team and pharmacy dispenser, allowing you to focus on your clinical duties.
Avondale Vets has a strong legacy, and we are proud of our rich history—our founding partner famously diagnosed the first-ever Left Displaced Abomasum (LDA). Our purpose-built practice, located at the Strathaven Rural Centre since 2009, is equipped to provide the highest standard of care to our clients and their pets.
Our team includes 2 Clinical Directors, 1 Practice Manager, 18 Vets (specialising in small animal, farm animal, equine, and export), a Head RVN, two RVNs, one SVN, and 9 Support Staff. We are committed to ongoing professional development, with several of our vets pursuing advanced qualifications such as surgical and orthopaedic PgC and cardiology GPCert. We have also invested in laparoscopic surgical equipment and are expanding our in-house services for orthopaedic surgeries, including TPLO.
We offer a flexible working environment with 35 to 40 hours per week, the option of a 4- or 5-day workweek, and 1:4 Saturday mornings as part of the working hours. We are open to varying shift patterns to accommodate your needs.
We recognise that our people are fundamental to the success of our business. Investing in our people, premises and processes is at the heart of what we do. In addition to a competitive base salary, you will benefit from:
