Job description

Join a close-knit referral team where your clinical skills and team spirit will thrive

Are you an RVN looking to advance your nursing career in a supportive mid-tier referral hospital? At West Midlands Referrals, we’re proud of our welcoming, family-feel culture and our purpose-built facility that allows us to deliver exceptional care across orthopaedics, soft tissue, and internal medicine.

We’re seeking a Referral Clinical Nurse to join our dynamic and friendly team of 21 nurses, 5 referral vets, multiple PCAs, and 9 dedicated client care colleagues. You'll work closely with experienced professionals and have the chance to develop your skills in a referral environment that prioritises teamwork, growth, and quality care.

What your role will involve:

  • Supporting the surgical, anaesthesia, and medical caseload with high standards of nursing care
  • Being hands-on across 8-9 procedures per day, including a mix of orthopaedics and soft tissue surgeries
  • Rotating through theatre, wards, diagnostics, and prep areas to maintain variety and skill development
  • Working in a collaborative environment where everyone pulls together to deliver the best outcomes for patients and clients
  • Occasional client-facing duties as required

Why you'll love working here:

  • Mid-tier referral hospital with a manageable, well-structured caseload
  • Purpose-built modern facility in a peaceful and accessible location
  • Supportive team of colleagues who foster a friendly, family-like culture
  • Active social committee with monthly events - from pizza days and Easter egg hunts to pumpkin carving and festive parties
  • Work-life balance is valued - flexible rotas and the ability to condense hours are common among the team

What we’re looking for:

  • Qualified RVN with a passion for patient care
  • Referral experience is desirable but not essential - full support provided
  • A proactive team player who thrives in a busy, hands-on environment

What your rota looks like:

  • Rolling rota includes:
  • 2 shifts of 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
  • 1 shift of 7:30 AM - 7:30 PM
  • 1 shift of 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM
  • Every 4 weeks, you receive 1 day off either side of the weekend for a better work-life balance
  • On-call duties only approx. 3 weekends per year for inpatient care
  • 1 Bank Holiday shift annually
  • No night shifts - we have a dedicated night team for inpatient care

Benefits:
  • 5 weeks holiday + bank holidays + Birthday Leave
  • RCVS & VDS fees paid
  • External CPD funded
  • Extensive free online Linnaeus CPD program
  • Career progression opportunities
  • Staff discount schemes
  • Life Assurance
  • Enhanced sickness pay
  • Enhanced equal family leave
  • E-car salary sacrifice scheme
  • Employer contribution pension scheme
  • Wellness program, including:
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Eyecare voucher scheme
  • Free annual Flu jab
  • Cycle-to-work scheme
  • Recruitment referral reward scheme
