Job summary

inspiring vet care is seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join Gilmore Veterinary Surgery on a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract. The role covers nursing across consulting, theatre, diagnostics, inpatient care and some reception support within a collaborative team.

You will work with an experienced veterinary team to deliver high‑quality patient care, support client experiences, and develop nursing skills in a forward‑thinking practice that values continuous improvement and learning.

Qualifications

• Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS.
• Experience working in clinical practice, with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively.
• A proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Run nurse consultations and support client communication.
• Support theatre work, including anaesthesia monitoring and surgical nursing.
• Provide inpatient care and patient monitoring.
• Assist with laboratory work and diagnostics, including ear cytology.
• Support the use of equipment including multiparameter monitors, blood pressure machine and tonometer.
• Contribute to the development of dental radiography within the nursing team once introduced.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences.

You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.

This role would suit an RVN who enjoys variety, is happy to get stuck in across different areas of the practice, and wants to be part of a team where patient care, teamwork and a positive working environment really matter.

Working Pattern

• 40 hours per week
• 4-day working week
• 1 in 4 Saturday mornings, 9:00am to 12:00pm with TOIL
