Gilmore Veterinary Surgery is seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team on a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract. You will be integral to delivering high-quality nursing care across consulting, theatre, inpatient care and diagnostics, while supporting client experiences.

You’ll work with a friendly, supportive team and have opportunities to develop your nursing skills, including dental radiography and anaesthesia monitoring, in a forward-thinking practice.

Qualifications

• Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS.
• Experience working in clinical practice, with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively.
• A proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Run nurse consultations and support client communication.
• Support theatre work, including anaesthesia monitoring and surgical nursing.
• Provide inpatient care and patient monitoring.
• Assist with laboratory work and diagnostics, including ear cytology.
• Support the use of equipment including multiparameter monitors, blood pressure machine and tonometer.
• Contribute to the development of dental radiography within the nursing team once introduced.

We are a forward-thinking practice, keen to embrace clinical advances and continue developing the care we provide. This is a varied role where you’ll be involved in all aspects of nursing, including consulting, theatre work, inpatient care, diagnostics and some limited reception support.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences.

You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.

This role would suit an RVN who enjoys variety, is happy to get stuck in across different areas of the practice, and wants to be part of a team where patient care, teamwork and a positive working environment really matter.

Working Pattern

• 40 hours per week
• 4-day working week
• 1 in 4 Saturday mornings, 9:00am to 12:00pm with TOIL

General Responsibilities
