Job summary

IVC Evidensia is seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join Nithsdale Vets on a full-time fixed-term basis. Two-site practice in Thornhill and Dumfries, offering a broad caseload and modern facilities to support high-quality nursing care.

You will work with veterinary surgeons to deliver nursing care across first opinion cases, contribute to clinical standards, and support ongoing development of patient care within the practice.

Qualifications

  • RCVS registration is required.
  • Experience in clinical practice with medical/surgical nursing growth.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships.
  • Good organisation and workload management.
  • Proactive learning, reflection and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high standards of patient and inpatient nursing care.
  • Monitor anaesthesia and assist with surgical procedures.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-orientated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Nithsdale Vets on a full-time fixed-term basis.

We are a two-site small animal practice based in Thornhill and Dumfries, both equipped to a high standard to support excellent clinical care. With a wide and varied caseload, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills across a broad spectrum of medical and surgical cases.

Our practices benefit from modern facilities and equipment, enabling us to provide a high standard of patient care while supporting the ongoing development of our clinical teams.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences.

You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.

Working Pattern
  • Full-Time working 40 hours per week
  • Working on a rota basis Monday to Friday with shifts between 8am-7pm
  • 1 weeknight on call and 1 in every 4 weekend on calls
  • Saturday on-call duties from 9:00am to 2:00pm
