Job description

At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, team‑orientated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Richmond House Vets on a full‑time or part‑time basis.

As part of Gatehouse Veterinary Group, you’ll benefit from the support, training, and guidance of a highly experienced leadership team, alongside the stability of a larger group. Gatehouse is proud to hold awards for outstanding performance within the Practice Standards Scheme (PSS), and Richmond House Vets will be working towards PSS compliance at General Practice level.

We are relocating to a brand-new, purpose‑built site near Mirfield, fully equipped with modern facilities including a dental suite, separate species wards, digital x‑ray, and theatres. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants real influence over how a practice develops and thrives.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral part of our team, providing a wide range of nursing duties. You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first‑opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • General nursing duties, including patient care, anaesthesia, and assisting in surgery
  • Performing diagnostic imaging, lab work, and radiography
  • Providing exceptional nursing care to inpatients, including monitoring during anaesthesia and recovery
  • Conducting nurse clinics and providing client education
  • Assisting with procedures, routine consultations, and theatre duties
Working Pattern
  • 40‑hour working week
  • Hours worked over four or five days
  • 1‑in‑4 Saturday morning rota (8:00 am – 1:00 pm)
  • No out‑of‑hours responsibilities
  • Part‑time applications welcomed
  • Working across both Allerton and Richmond branches
You Might Be a Great Fit If…
  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
  • Experience working in clinical practice, with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively
  • A proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
  • You are a clinical coach or have a desire to become one
How We’ll Support You
  • A varied and rewarding nursing role within a supportive primary care environment
  • Clear career pathways with progression opportunities into Senior Nurse, Referral, leadership roles, clinical supervisor routes, mentoring and certificate pathways
  • Ongoing learning and development supported by experienced colleagues and practice teams
  • A collaborative, values‑led culture focused on care, community, and continuous improvement
What We Offer Our Team
  • 6.6 weeks’ annual leave
  • Increasing holiday allowance based on length of service
  • Enhanced family‑friendly policies, including maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental and surrogacy pay
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • Employee wellbeing initiatives including Healthcare Cash Plan and Cycle to Work scheme
  • £550 CPD allowance plus 24 hrs paid leave
  • RCVS and VDS fees covered
  • Pension scheme
  • Discounted veterinary care
  • Voluntary benefits: choose from a range of benefits to suit you, including Green Cars salary sacrifice scheme and access to discounts and cashback with hundreds of participating retailers

We’re committed to supporting our people through career development opportunities, wellbeing initiatives and access to world‑class learning resources. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to take the next step in your career, inspiring vet care offers the support, opportunity and community to help you grow.
