Job description

Are you a Registered Veterinary Nurse looking to develop your career further? We have a great opportunity to join our Bolton Vets for Pets team, offering an excellent salary of £28,000 to £32,000 depending on experience!

This is a full-time role (40 hours/week) across 4 days, with Thursdays off. You'll work 3, 8am-7pm shifts, with an early finish every other Friday, and 1 in 3 Saturdays (8:45am-12:15pm). There are no out-of-hours or overnight inpatient checks.

"The people who work at Bolton Vets4Pets truly make the practice. We are a close-knit team despite our growing staff and clientele. It is an open and supportive environment where we're constantly learning from each other. It's a fast-paced setting with rarely a dull day. I feel very lucky to have started my career here with such a great team and support system." Zoe - Current Vet

About us:

Bolton is a family-friendly city ranked as one of the happiest places to live in the Northwest. It is close to Manchester and Liverpool, under an hour from the Peak District, an hour from Leeds, and less than 2 hours from the Lake District and Snowdonia National Park. The cost of living is attractive, especially for those looking to buy property, with a higher standard of living than many other parts of the UK. Families can enjoy good education options and access to excellent colleges and universities nearby.

You will join an existing team of 6 vets, 5 nurses (including students), and supportive non-clinical staff. One of our vets specializes in exotics, so you'll occasionally see some unusual cases!

About the role:

Our work-life balance is reflected in our schedules, with guaranteed lunch breaks, designated times for catch-up, calls, and emergencies.

In this role, you will utilize your nursing skills fully—admitting patients, monitoring anaesthetics, recovering, and discharging patients. Assistance from ANAs and an SVN will support theatre turnaround and patient prep.

Applicants should have good general nursing experience, excellent customer service skills, and a cheerful, down-to-earth attitude with a genuine interest in animal welfare.

What We Offer in Return:

We offer a competitive salary from £28,000 to £32,000, depending on experience. The role includes no out-of-hours or overnight inpatient checks, promoting work-life balance. Benefits include a generous CPD allowance (funded certificates), paid professional memberships (RCVS, BVNA, VDS), and additional perks:

  • 20% discount at the Vet Group, Pets at Home, and the Groom Room
  • Access to high street discounts, cashback offers, and rewards
  • Regular social events and wellbeing initiatives
  • In-house career development opportunities
  • Contributory pension scheme and holiday allowance

We value diversity and inclusion. If you meet the role requirements, we encourage you to apply, even if your skills and experience don't match perfectly. We want to hear from you!
