A well-motivated, conscientious person is sought to work in a busy and developing Orthopaedic Outpatient Department. The post will allow the individual to enhance their existing knowledge in a varied clinical setting. Duties will include applying casts (training will be given), assisting with manipulations, carrying out various dressings, and dealing with pre- and post-op elective and trauma patients. Willingness to undertake the British Casting Course (BCC). A good communicator is essential.

The Orthopaedic Outpatient Department is constantly evolving with developments and added opportunities. We offer excellent education and development opportunities, thanks to our close links with local universities. We provide induction, orientation, and preceptorship to support your professional growth.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job
  • Take charge of a group of patients/clients with guidance and supervision, depending on experience.
  • Coordinate the work of healthcare support workers, assistant practitioners, students, and preceptorship nurses.
  • Supervise team members and participate in their education and development.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information related to staffing, finances, and patients.
  • Record patient property, ensuring compliance with policies and protocols.
  • Participate in service development and contribute to team meetings.
  • Use physical and financial resources effectively.
  • Recognize own limitations and escalate issues to senior staff when necessary.
