Job summary

Ann’s Care Homes in Omagh, Northern Ireland, is seeking a Registered Nurse to lead nursing and personal care daily for residents, including those with dementia. You will liaise with families, GPs and the wider care team to uphold high standards of care and safety.

The role requires ongoing CPD, 6 months post-registration, and strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills to maintain individual care plans and responsive care delivery.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse qualification and ongoing CPD linked to demonstrate clinical competencies
• At least 6 months post-registration
• Experience coordinating and managing residents' care
• Experience of working with residents with dementia
• Experience handling clinical incidents and complaints; supervision/management experience
• Knowledge of Health and Social Care Act 2008
• Ability to lead, motivate and develop a team; excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to work independently and manage a workload; prioritise and delegate

Job description

The Successful Candidate will:

• To ensure adherence to the NMC code of conduct in all areas of care & practice
• To ensure the well-being of all residents in maintaining the Six broad values of Privacy, Dignity, Independence, Choice, Rights, and Fulfilment
• To liaise with the resident’s family, friends, GP, Community Nurses, specialists, pharmacists, local authorities, local councils, voluntary bodies and any other associations related the care for the residents
• To take the lead in nursing, ensuring that the nursing and personal care of residents is maintained on a daily basis and in accordance to the individuals’ needs, capabilities and requirements
• To liaise with Home Manager and/or Deputy Manager and other senior members of the management team on any issues that might arise
• To actively promote and encourage as much personal independence and choice as possible in the resident’s daily living and activities undertaken within the home
• To take part in any associated training activities in order that you ascertain the skills and knowledge to carry out your role in an effective and safe manner
• To ensure that as much of a stimulating and attractive environment as possible is provided for the residents
• To put residents at the heart of all we do

Essential Criteria

• Registered Nurse Qualification
• Evidence of on-going continuing professional development linked to demonstrate clinical competencies
• 6 month post registration
• Experience of coordinating and managing residents care
• Previous experience of working with residents suffering with dementia
• Experience of handling clinical incidents and complaints Supervision and managerial experience
• Good knowledge of Health and Social Care Act 2008
• To undertake the duties of the job in accordance with relevant legislative requirements
