Registered Nurse, Infectious Diseases - 1 position

Location: Infectious Diseases, St. Joseph's Hospital - London, ON

Type: Temporary Full Time

Salary Range: $39.07 - $56.00 /hour

Temporary employment anticipated to extend until approximately May 14, 2026, subject to the availability of work.

St. Joseph's Hospital continues to expand its role in the treatment of complex medical and chronic disease, illness prevention, research, and education. Our ambulatory medicine teams specialize in the treatment of complex medical and chronic disease conditions with the goal of helping individuals reach optimal health and well-being. Our teams collaborate to provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, disease prevention, management strategies, and follow-up care.

The Infectious Diseases Care Program is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive patient care using advanced assessment, intervention, and evaluation skills. The successful candidate will identify health needs of patients and families and collaborate with the inter-professional team to address these needs. This role supports evidence-based research through nursing practice, protocol development, and educational activities.

Essential Qualifications
  • Valid registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Valid CPR certificate
  • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C, cellulitis, and other infectious diseases
  • Recent (within 2 years) medical or surgical experience
  • Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Healthcare Setting compliant with OHSA
  • Understanding of chronic disease management
  • Competence in IV insertions and phlebotomy skills
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an inter-professional team
  • Critical thinking and clinical problem-solving skills
  • Initiative and leadership qualities
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles for teaching patients, families, and caregivers
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including homelessness, addictions, and mental health
  • Experience collaborating with community partners
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in French (asset)
  • Minimum one-year experience in ambulatory care
  • Experience developing educational tools
  • Experience in data collection
  • Experience with Community Outreach Programs
  • Certification in Fibroscans
  • Certification as an ACRN (AIDS Certified Registered Nurse)
