An exciting opportunity has arisen for Registered Nurses to join the newly formed Durban ward located at Clacton and District Community Hospital. Durban ward is a 26 bedded unit which will provide Community step up and step down to patients who have a North East Essex GP.
Community Hospital wards within North East Essex provide care for patients who do not require acute nursing intervention and whose needs cannot be met at home. They also provide palliative or end of life care, recovery from acute illness, rehabilitation and IVABs.
Durban ward is planned to open during November 2026 to help support flow during seasonal pressures. Due to the trusts ambition to support a "home first" approach, Durban ward has potential to transition after the winter period to a Same Day Assessment Unit, providing rapid assessment, diagnostics, and treatment for appropriate patients, reducing avoidable admissions to the Colchester acute site.
You will be a key member of the ward nursing team to ensure high quality care is delivered and will be part of a multi-professional team. You must be patient focused, flexible, adaptable and capable of thinking laterally.
This role is not suitable if you are required to complete OSCE.
With the guidance of the ward manager and senior nurses, you will be responsible for providing leadership support, teaching within the unit and supporting audit processes. You will use your knowledge and education to enable your colleagues to deliver high quality, individualised care to your patients.
