Roseville Care Centre is recruiting a Day Nurse to lead the day shift in our 103-bed nursing home. You will make clinical decisions, oversee the care team and ensure residents receive safe, person-centred care during 12-hour shifts.

We welcome newly qualified nurses; preceptorship is provided. Competitive pay and ongoing training support are included to help you develop into senior roles and lead teams with confidence.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current, unrestricted NMC registration.
• Ability to lead a shift and work as part of a team.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and the Mental Capacity Act.
• Excellent communication with residents, families and professionals.
• Willingness to mentor junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the day shift; allocate tasks for care staff.
• Assess, plan, deliver and review person-centred care plans.
• Administer medicines safely, including controlled drugs.
• Carry out wound, catheter care, PEG feeding and observations.
• Escalate changes in health to GPs and professionals.
• Provide compassionate support to residents and families.
• Communicate with GPs, pharmacists, nurses, hospitals, social workers.
• Keep accurate records and provide clear handovers.
• Follow safeguarding and infection control procedures.
• Mentor new staff and students.

Job description

Are you a compassionate Registered Nurse who wants time to really get to know the people you care for? Join our friendly team at Roseville Care Centre, a 103-bed nursing home, where you’ll lead day shifts and deliver safe, person-centred care that makes a real difference to residents and their families.

About the role

As a Day Nurse, you will be the nurse in charge of your shift. You will lead the care team, make clinical decisions and make sure every resident receives the care and attention they need. You will work 12-hour shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the day shift, allocating work and supporting care staff and nursing associates
• Assess, plan, deliver and review person-centred care plans and risk assessments
• Administer medicines safely and accurately, including controlled drugs, and maintain records
• Carry out clinical tasks such as wound care, catheter care, PEG feeding and observations
• Recognise and respond promptly to changes in residents’ health, escalating to GPs and other professionals
• Support residents and families with compassion, including at the end of life
• Communicate with GPs, pharmacists, district nurses, hospitals and social workers
• Keep accurate, timely records and give clear handovers
• Follow safeguarding, infection prevention and health and safety procedures
• Mentor and support new staff, students and care assistants

About you

• Registered Nurse (RGN or RMN) with current, unrestricted NMC registration
• Good clinical skills and sound judgement
• Confidence leading a shift and working as part of a team
• Knowledge of safeguarding, the Mental Capacity Act and safe medicines management
• Excellent communication skills with residents, families and professionals
• A kind, patient and person-centred approach
