Job description

An exciting opportunity has become available within the Urgent Emergency Care Division for a 12 month fixed term contract post for a Band 5 Registered Nurse. The job is based in the Acute Assessment Unit and Ambulatory Care Unit at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Huntingdon which provides a huge wealth of opportunity to learn new skills. The areas are fast paced and see a huge variety of patients with different conditions.

We are passionate supporters of our nursing team and are looking for a motivated band 5 Nurse to join us. We support individuals developing their career and encourage our nurses to be fully rounded with a large range of skills which can be demonstrated in a manner which reflects the Trust's values and standards.

You will have an opportunity to work in both areas, supported by the Matron and Divisional Head of Nursing.

Please note that we can only consider applications from individuals with a live NMC registration or UK nursing students awaiting their PIN, as we are currently unable to support OSCE.

As a band 5 working in both the Acute Assessment Unit and Ambulatory Care, you will be responsible for the assessment and care of acutely ill patients at the beginning of their journey in the hospital.

The role also involves arranging transfer of patients to the appropriate wards, facilitating discharges and working alongside the multi-disciplinary team. In Ambulatory Care you will attend to patients coming in as both emergency day cases for assessment and treatment as well as planned cases for ongoing treatments and review.

We are committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in our workforce and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, with a special focus on welcoming individuals from disabled, Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities, as well as those from our local area.

In line with our dedication to employee support, we offer a variety of benefits. For more information, please see the attached staff benefits leaflet.

We strive to create a supportive and inclusive workplace where employees feel valued and empowered to excel in their roles. Join us and become part of a team dedicated to making a positive difference in our community.

The post holder will provide nursing assessment and care on a day-to-day basis, working collaboratively with all colleagues and disciplines to ensure a high standard of care.

  1. Assess the needs of patients/clients within a clinical area, plan and implement individualised holistic nursing care in a sensitive manner.
  2. Provide effective evidence-based nursing care to the highest standard.
  3. Be confident and competent in all areas of nursing practice, enabling delivery of nursing care to include pre-operative assessment; cannulation; and administration of IV drugs.
  4. Play an active role in health promotion activities.
  5. Participate in audit for clinical practice and assist with data collection for research.
