Sturdee Community Hospital is a 31-bedded facility specializing in personalised care for women aged 18-65 who have complex health needs .

We are seeking a dedicated and skilledRegistered Mental Health Nurseto join our team.

Main duties of the job

What Youll Be Doing

  • Deliver high-quality clinical care and administer medication safely
  • Develop and lead tailored care plans in collaboration with the wider team
  • Build strong relationships with service users, families, and healthcare professionals
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold CQC standards

What Youll Need

  • Valid NMC PIN as a Registered Nurse
  • Experience in complex needs, specialist, or long-term care
  • Excellent communication and clinical decision-making skills
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and relevant regulations

With 31 beds across two locked rehabilitation wards and nine semi-independent flats, we offer a supportive and structured environment in which every individual can work towards their recovery goals.

Job responsibilities

Main duties of the role:-

  • Always behave in a professional and discreet manner and in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code.
  • Maintain confidentiality of documents, knowledge of residents and information obtained as pa of the role.
  • Be competent and confident in managing people with long-term health conditions.
  • Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate interventions/treatments for service users with complex needs.
  • Proactively identify, diagnose and manage treatment plans for service users (as appropriate).
  • Order supplies, maintain stock, ensure hygiene and cleanliness of equipment and environment and safeguard medication.
  • Prioritize health problems and intervene appropriately to assist service users in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care.
  • Recognize and work within own competence level
  • Produce accurate, contemporaneous and complete records of service user interaction and consultation, consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Support, manage and guide support workers on a daily basis.
  • Maintain an awareness of the Health and Safety requirements.
  • Always maintain client and business confidentiality
  • Continual personal development to develop oneself and the role.
  • In addition to these tasks, employees may at times be asked to carry out other reasonable duties as required by the service or line manager.
  • Personal Specification:-
  • UK registered nurse with significant post registration experience
  • Ability to maintain and monitor high standards of care
  • Ability to direct and co-ordinate programmes of care working autonomously and collaboratively
  • Effective organisational skills
  • Evidence of experience in embracing and implementing change to provide high quality health outcomes

The ability to work in a changing, demanding and stressful situation

Friendly and approachable

Good presentation of self, enthusiastic, innovative and flexible

Self-motivated, positive and committed

Maintain accurate, comprehensive records of all consultations and treatment

Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing

Have the ability to work on own initiative, acknowledging limitations and recognizing when referral is needed.

  • Current NMC PIN with no restriction to practice
Experience
  • Experience of working with adults experiencing mental health illnesses
  • Experience of working with adults with complex mental health illnesses
