Job summary

CareTech is seeking a Registered Manager for LaMarsh in Cottenham. You will provide operational, commercial and quality leadership to ensure high-quality, person-centred care, maintain full occupancy, and oversee regulatory compliance.

You will report to the Locality Manager and drive service delivery, people management and business development, while building partnerships with local authorities and managing finances. A strong focus on continuous improvement is required.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 5 in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
• Experience managing a residential care setting, ideally supporting individuals with learning disabilities.
• Strong understanding of CQC standards and regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Ensure full occupancy and manage referral assessments.
• Lead on recruitment and resource management to minimise agency use.
• Tailor all services to meet the unique needs of each individual.
• Build and maintain relationships with local authorities and external partners.
• Collaborate with the Business Development team to grow the service organically.
• Lead on achieving gross margin and EBITDA targets.
• Monitor financial performance and address variances.
• Communicate service changes to finance within 2 days.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and CQC regulations.
• Embed person-centred care pathways across the service.
• Respond to complaints effectively and uphold customer service standards.
• Provide strong leadership and manage team performance.
• Conduct supervisions, disciplinary and appeal hearings appropriately.
• Promote a culture of learning, quality improvement and efficiency.

About the service – LaMarsh

Rated Good by CQC, La Marsh is registered for 6 service users who have a diagnosis of severe learning, complex and physical difficulties as well as dementia. All are wheelchair users. The Service is close to public transport links and is easily commutable from Cambridge. La Marsh is easily within walking distance of local amenities as well as enjoying its beautiful village location. La Marsh’s warm and friendly atmosphere is inviting to anyone who resides or visits. The staff strives to make the Service Users lives as fulfilled as possible.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Locality Manager, the Registered Manager will provide operational, commercial, and quality leadership at Orchard House. You’ll play a key role in service delivery, regulatory compliance, people management, and business development.

You will ensure our service users receive high-quality, personalised care and support while maintaining the home’s full occupancy, financial stability, and staff performance.

Key Responsibilities

Service Operations

• Ensure full occupancy and manage referral assessments.
• Lead on recruitment and resource management to minimise agency use.
• Tailor all services to meet the unique needs of each individual.

Commercial & Business Development

• Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities and external partners.
• Collaborate with the Business Development team to grow the service organically.

Financial Management

• Lead on achieving gross margin and EBITDA targets.
• Monitor financial performance, identifying and addressing variances proactively.
• Communicate service changes to finance within 2 days.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with internal policies, CQC regulations, and contractual obligations.
• Embed person-centred care pathways across the service.
• Respond to complaints effectively and uphold excellent customer service standards.

Leadership & People Management

• Provide strong, visible leadership to the team.
• Manage performance, encourage development, and address underperformance as needed.
• Conduct supervisions, disciplinary and appeal hearings appropriately.

Continuous Improvement

• Promote a culture of learning, quality improvement and service efficiency.
• Stay informed on sector developments and legislative changes.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

• NVQ Level 5 in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
• Previous experience managing a residential care setting, ideally supporting individuals with learning disabilities.
• Strong understanding of CQC standards and regulatory frameworks.
• Proven leadership, financial and operational management skills.
