Job summary

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Registered Dental Nurse (Link Grade Band 4-5) to join the outpatient OMFS team. The post requires GDC registration and supports professional development within a dynamic dental nursing service.

The role involves assisting dental and medical staff, promoting evidence-based care, and maintaining patient wellbeing. Induction includes training across OMFS outpatient services, with indemnity cover provided by OUH.

Qualifications

• Registered on the GDC register for Dental Nurses.
• Certificate of Higher Education in Dental Nursing or City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in dental nursing (QCF) or equivalent training and experience.
• Evidence of relevant continuing professional development
• Awareness of self-development needs.
• Awareness of wider issues relating to health care and education.
• Post registration course in Dental Radiography/ Oral health / Orthodontics and/or other specialist training

Responsibilities

• To assist Medical and Dental professionals within the OMFS specialty.
• Promoting and coordinating the delivery of evidenced based care to these groups of patients.
• Be accountable for the wellbeing of a patient during treatment.
• Assist the Principal Dental nurses and Department Sister in the day to day management of the department.
• Work together with the multi-disciplinary team to meet patient needs effectively and efficiently.
• Communicate effectively with other healthcare providers and Primary Care teams.
• Develop and perform additional nursing roles for the OMFS outpatient group following education and training.
• Work within the General Dental Council Scope of Practice (2025).
