Job description

Job Advert: Registered Children s Home Manager. Location: Rainham, Essex. Salary: Up to £70,000 per year + performance bonus. Contract: Full-time, 5 days per week (onsite).

We are looking to appoint an experienced and committed Registered Children s Home Manager to lead a newly refurbished three-bed detached home based in Rainham, Essex. This is a rare opportunity to join a family-run organisation that is passionate about providing high-quality, stable, and nurturing care for children and young people.

The home is nearing completion following a full refurbishment and includes a dedicated manager s office and a staff room, providing a comfortable and professional working environment. You will work closely with the responsible individual who will be submitting the Ofsted application once the registered Manager is appointed, ensuring a strong and well-supported start for the service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the staff team to deliver safe, consistent, and child-centred care.
  • Oversee the final setup and ongoing development of the home from the point of opening.
  • Maintain a warm, secure, and nurturing environment for children in your care.
  • Take responsibility for staffing, budgets, and daily operational processes.
  • Build constructive and professional relationships with families, social workers, and external agencies.
Requirements
  • Must currently hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or a qualification considered equivalent by the Council in line with statutory guidance.
  • Proven experience working within a children s residential home.
  • Clear and demonstrable experience of dealing with Ofsted, including inspections and regulatory requirements.
  • At least two years experience in a senior or deputy role within a residential childcare setting.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable children.
