Job summary

Olive Recruit is seeking an Ofsted Registered Children's Home Manager to lead a brand-new 4/5-bed EBD home in Birmingham. As the founding Manager you will shape culture, values, and day-to-day operation from opening through establishment of high standards of care.

You will have Ofsted qualifications, managerial experience in childcare, and a passion for safeguarding, leadership, and continuous improvement. A generous bonus scheme and support from a Responsible Individual accompany the role.

Qualifications

  • A recognised Ofsted qualification (e.g. Level 3 Diploma in Childcare or NVQ 4 in C&YP) and Level 5 Leadership and Management.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a managerial role within childcare.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience within a residential childcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of child development theories and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding legislation and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of the children’s care facility, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Lead quality assurance, audits, and improvement plans.
  • Monitor incidents, complaints, and outcomes for children.
  • Develop engaging programmes supporting physical, emotional, and educational development.
  • Oversee staff induction, supervision, appraisal, and development.
  • Maintain safeguarding policies and create a safe environment.
  • Represent the home in meetings with local authorities and safeguarding partners.
  • Oversee admin tasks, records, and reporting.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £50,000 - £75,000 per annum

We are seeking a dedicated, ambitious, and compassionate Ofsted Registered Children's Home Manager for our beautifully furnished brand-new 4/5-bed EBD home based in the heart of Birmingham. Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operations of the children’s care facility, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Lead quality assurance and continuous improvement processes, including Regulation 45 reports, audits, improvement plans, and responses to Regulation 44 audits and local authority assurance visits.
  • Monitor incidents, complaints, performance indicators, and outcomes for children.
  • Develop and implement engaging programmes that support children’s physical, emotional, and educational development.
  • Manage staff induction, supervision, appraisal, performance, and development in line with safer recruitment practices and company policy.
  • Ensure staffing levels, training, and research-based practice support high-quality care delivery.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents, caregivers, and external agencies to ensure collaborative approaches to child welfare.
  • Conduct regular assessments of children’s progress and well-being, adapting programmed as necessary to meet individual needs.
  • Ensure that safeguarding policies are always adhered to, creating a safe environment for all children.
  • Manage administrative tasks related to the operation of the facility, including record keeping and reporting.
  • Represent the home professionally in meetings and multi-agency settings, building strong relationships with local authorities, commissioners, and safeguarding partners while upholding organizational values, policies, and professional standards.
About You
  • A recognized Ofsted qualification (e.g. Level 3 Diploma in Childcare or NVQ Level 4 Children and Young People) and Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a managerial role within a childcare setting.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience within a residential childcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of child development theories and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a team.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
  • A thorough understanding of safeguarding legislation and procedures.
