Job summary

Optometry Wales is seeking an experienced and motivated Regional Engagement Officer to support NHS optometry delivery across Wales. You will work with Regional Optical Committees, Local Health Boards, contractors and stakeholders to drive engagement, collaboration and service improvement while maintaining effective communication channels.

This is predominantly home-based with regular travel, mainly remote working across Wales.

Qualifications

• Optometrist registered with GOC.
• Registered on the performers list in Wales.
• Experience practising as an optometrist providing WGOS 1 and 2 within Wales.
• Member of the College of Optometrists.
• Willing to travel across Wales with a UK driving licence.
• Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
• Knowledge of Optometry Contract Reform and current issues facing optometry contractors in Wales.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Capable of remote working as ROC/OW representative while collaborating with a close-knit team.
• Based in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Arrange, attend and support the three Wales Regional Optical Committee meetings.
• Support ROC members in meetings with Local Health Boards within the Regions.
• Provide advice/support to Committee members at meetings with LHBs (Liaison group, Eye Care Collaborative Groups).
• Work with the ROC Chair and Optometry Wales CEO to address contractor issues across Wales.
• Be a contact for all optometry practices to receive feedback and encourage ROC meeting attendance.
• Link with Optometry Collaborative Leads across Regions/Local Health Board areas to share best practice.
• Support delivery of Continuing Professional Development at regional and national levels.
• Work with contractors to maximise NHS funding and identify barriers to service delivery.
• Collaborate on rollout of new services or requirements with Regions and LHBs.
• Contribute to communications/PR & media relations, including politician visits across Wales.
