Job summary

MPJ Recruitment seeks an experienced Regional Operations Manager to lead field engineering operations across the North Region, including Birmingham & North. You will drive performance, support engineering teams, and deliver high-quality service across communal and district heating systems.

You will oversee a geographically dispersed team, ensuring they have the tools, training, and support needed to deliver exceptional results. This role offers operational excellence and meaningful impact.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership of remote or field-based engineering teams.
• Strong technical understanding of communal heating systems.
• IOSH Health & Safety qualification (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire a team of field engineers, promoting collaboration and high performance.
• Oversee maintenance operations across communal heating systems, including HIUs, metering, AMR technologies, and prepayment infrastructure.
• Ensure team readiness through effective resource planning, training, and equipment management.
• Provide technical guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Conduct quality audits to uphold standards and drive efficiency.
• Lead operational planning and implement process improvements.
• Maintain compliance with policies, contracts, and health & safety regulations.
• Collaborate with regional teams, contractors, and schedulers to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Report monthly KPIs and performance trends.
• Support commercial growth and manage budgets effectively.
• Champion safety through risk assessments, method statements, and stock control oversight.

• Familiar with AMR technologies (Mbus, Radio, DLC) and prepayment systems.


• Analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving skills.


• Comfortable working across multi‑site, multi‑client environments.


• IOSH Health & Safety qualification (or willingness to obtain).


• Digitally confident with mobile work technology.
