Regional Health & Safety Lead - Construction

Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is seeking a Health and Safety professional to cover construction sites across the Western region and the Bristol Office. The role provides health, safety and wellbeing support to Sector/Region leadership and helps drive HS&W strategies and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include coaching junior team members, ensuring compliance, and promoting a proactive safety culture across projects and operations.

Qualifications

• GradIOSH, or TechIOSH actively working towards GradIOSH.
• NEBOSH NVQ Diploma or equivalent Level 6 qualification.
• Experience in H&S within the Construction industry.
• Experience in Commercial, Education and healthcare sectors preferred.
• Strong people leadership and collaboration skills.
• Experience providing technical H&S support on complex Construction/Civil projects.
• Excellent influencing and communication skills.
• Solid understanding of root cause analysis.
• Appreciation of behavioral science and human factors.
• Commitment to continuous personal learning and development.
• Engages with industry contacts to broaden knowledge and experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert Health, Safety & Wellbeing advice across Sector/Region.
• Partner with operational and leadership teams to drive a proactive safety culture.
• Support the delivery of divisional and regional HS&W strategies and embed best practices.
• Ensure compliance with HS&W requirements, policies and standards.
• Monitor workforce competence and support training initiatives.
• Coach and mentor junior HS&W team members.
• Champion wellbeing, inclusion and psychological safety.
• Conduct site visits, audits and assurance activities.
• Monitor HS&W performance data and drive improvements.
• Lead incident investigations and implement preventative actions.
• Review supply chain HS&W performance and drive high standards.
• Engage with clients and industry partners to promote collaboration.
• Support emergency preparedness and resilience planning.
• Contribute to HS&W reports and communications to leadership/clients.
• Share learning and drive continuous improvement.
