Job description

In your role as a Regional Gardener at HC-One, you will undertake gardening duties covering our Care Homes in the Hartlepool area and maintain the Homes' gardens and grounds to the highest standard, helping HC-One become the First Choice Care Home in the community. You will be responsive and flexible as the needs of the Homes change.

As a Gardener, your responsibilities include general gardening duties such as planting seasonal foliage, grass-cutting, pruning shrubs, watering hanging baskets, eradicating weeds, and tidying pathways, walkways, and driveways within the care home grounds. You will also maintain gardening machinery and tools, carry out tests and checks, and undertake maintenance of external fencing and garden furniture, including painting and repairs. Additionally, you will work closely with the estates team and handle salt gritting and snow clearance as needed.

Please note that a valid driving license is essential.

HC-One seeks a Gardener who understands and implements the Care Home's Health and Safety policies, Emergency and Fire procedures. You will complete mandatory and specialist training related to your role, on or off-site, to maintain and update your professional knowledge and competence. Effective communication with Residents, the Home Manager, colleagues, and visitors is essential.

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. You should be able to recognize signs of abuse, harm, or neglect and know the procedures to follow if concerns arise. All colleagues are required to attend safeguarding training relevant to their role and undertake additional training as needed. You must be able to seek advice and escalate concerns appropriately.

We offer full training, providing a great opportunity to learn new skills. In return, you will have access to a wide range of benefits supporting your physical and psychological well-being, including:

  • Paid Enhanced DBS/PVG
  • Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications
  • Free uniform
  • A nutritious meal during shifts of eight hours or more
  • Company pension scheme
