Job summary

Biffa Waste Services is seeking a Regional Driver Development Coach to support Haz & Liquid Waste Tanker operations across regional teams. This hands-on, field-based role focuses on coaching drivers, improving safety standards and ensuring compliance across regional teams.

You’ll work with drivers and management to assess performance, deliver inductions and targeted retraining, promote a positive safety culture and drive continuous improvement in efficiency and service quality.

Qualifications

• Experience in HGV driving, driver training or transport operations.
• Knowledge of road safety, driver compliance and vehicle standards.
• Ability to identify development needs and coach drivers to improve performance.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with managers at all levels.
• Organisational skills and ability to maintain training and competency records.
• Proactive approach to safety, continuous improvement and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Support driver recruitment through practical assessments and competency checks.
• Deliver driver induction and ensure new starters understand safety standards and legislative requirements.
• Deliver ongoing driver training and refresher sessions to meet operational needs.
• Coach drivers to improve skills, behaviours and driving performance.
• Maintain driver training records and review performance data with managers.
• Provide reassessments and targeted retraining after incidents or performance concerns.
• Identify opportunities to improve training methods and share best practices regionally.
