British Showjumping is the governing body for the sport in Great Britain. We aim to encourage greater and more active participation across our sport, supporting consistent high performance at all levels.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Development Officer plays a key role in growing the sport at a regional level through the promotion of membership, the assessment and monitoring of affiliated venues to ensure quality standards are met, and assisting in the organisation and running of Academies and regional training.

Promotion of Membership and Participation

Supporting the promotion of British Showjumping and its activities.

Providing information, advice and guidance on all aspects of Showjumping to those within the region.

Working with the regional membership to deliver the strategic objectives of British Showjumping in a designated region, and promoting active membership of British Showjumping at all levels of the sport.

In conjunction with the Sport Team, coordinating and delivering development initiatives to increase and sustain membership.

Working closely with other equestrian organisations and key partners (such as the BEF, member body staff/volunteers and county sports partnerships) to maximise joint initiatives and to access funding.

Attending and support key fixtures within the Region.

Affiliated Venue Management

Liaising with Show Centres across the region to ensure optimal utilisation of the Centre and their affiliation to British Showjumping; guiding new Show Centres through the affiliation process where required.

Liaising and scheduling with Show Organisers in respect to calendar of show dates.

Working closely with the Shows Department around the allocation of qualifiers.

Assist Show Organisers to ensure the welfare of people and horses is paramount.

Officials, Coaches and Volunteers

Recruit, retain and develop a regional network of Volunteers, Coaches, and Officials who in turn deliver opportunities to participate in British Showjumping.

Assist in the organisation and running of regional training coordinated.

Ensure Continual Professional Development and related assessments within the region are completed.

Assisting with Stewarding at competitions when required.

The promotion and managing of Academies in accordance with the national framework.

Facilitating and organising Showjumping training at a regional level.

Area Management

Working closely with Area Representatives and committees to ensure effective running of the sport within the Areas.

Administrative

Providing regular updates for the regional webpages and social media.

Ensuring adherence to and compliance with all British Showjumping’s policies and procedures, including in areas such as Safeguarding and Data Protection.

Managing the Regional budget; ensuring financial regulations are adhered to including effective planning, monitoring and reporting.

Working location: Working remotely based in the South of the UK

Hours: 35 hours per week

Holidays: 22 days per annum, not including UK bank holidays.
