Job summary

Galliford Try Group is seeking a Design Manager in Bristol to lead the design process, manage client and design team relationships, and ensure designs meet safety and buildability requirements. You will drive design programmes, control risks, and coordinate with planners, BREEAM, and Building Control throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Experience of CDM 2015 and safety in design.
• Able to read and interpret design and construction programmes.
• Understand buildability and challenge where designs don’t meet sequencing or methods.
• Analytical with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communicator to engage with senior stakeholders.
• Able to manage design change processes and commercial aspects.

Responsibilities

• Manage relationships with client, subcontractors, project and design teams for design development and delivery.
• Lead the design process per Galliford Try Building Management System.
• Apply and monitor CDM 2015 compliance and safety in design.
• Identify and mitigate design risk and realize opportunities during bids or projects.
• Assist in designer selection and ensure competency checks.
• Develop scope/responsibilities for consultants and manage fees.
• Develop design programme with Planner and manage information release schedules.
• Manage statutory/third-party processes (Planning, Building Control, BREEAM).
• Conduct site inspections to verify As-built meets design criteria.
