Job summary

Galliford Try is seeking a Design Manager based in the Bristol area with responsibilities spanning client, subcontractor and design team coordination to deliver designs across projects and bids.

You will lead the design process, ensure CDM 2015 compliance, and mitigate design risks throughout all stages, including consultant selection and fee management. The role offers Agile working options and broad site travel within the region.

Qualifications

• Experience with CDM 2015 and safety in design.
• Ability to read and interpret design and construction programmes.
• Strong communication skills with senior stakeholders.
• Commercial awareness and managing design change processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage client, subcontractor and design team relationships for efficient design development and delivery.
• Lead the design process in line with the Galliford Try Building Management System.
• Apply and monitor CDM 2015 compliance and safety in design.
• Identify and mitigate design risks across bid or project stages.
• Assist in selecting designers and ensure competency checks.
• Develop scopes and manage consultants, including fees.
• Develop and manage design programmes with planners and monitor information release schedules.
• Manage planning, Building Control and other third-party processes.
• Conduct site inspections to verify As-built meets design criteria.
