Job summary

Avery Healthcare is seeking a Regional Bank Chef to support our Hampshire & Dorset homes. You will manage a culinary team and deliver nutritionally balanced, high-quality meals while staying within budget, across multiple sites.

The role requires travelling to various homes to maintain standards and resident satisfaction. Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in busy kitchen management, strong health & safety knowledge, and catering qualifications.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a busy kitchen and managing a culinary team.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and food safety standards.
• NVQ 3 in Food Production or equivalent with catering qualifications.
• Ability to supervise staff and train unqualified team members.

Responsibilities

• Prepare nutritionally balanced menu plans for approval by Home Manager and record dietary requirements.
• Place orders with approved suppliers within budget and maintain stock levels.
• Supervise kitchen staff and the Host team, demonstrating food prep to junior staff.
• Apply Avery Food Safety Management system and ensure high standards of hygiene.

About The Role

As the Regional Bank Chef, your primary responsibility will be supporting the daily operations of the culinary department. You will manage and guide a culinary team dedicated to providing nutritionally balanced, comprehensive, and high-quality meals that enhance the overall well-being of the residents while staying within budget. The role will involve travelling to various homes across the region.

Other Responsibilities Will Include

• Prepare nutritionally balanced menu plans for approval by the Home Manager, which provide varied, nutritious, and appetising meals for residents. Take account of any special dietary needs and retain records for inspection purposes.
• Place food orders, subject to appropriate levels of authority, with approved suppliers, complying with procedures to maintain proper stock levels and control, ensuring good quality provisions are purchased within agreed budget limits
• Supervise and direct the work of other kitchen staff and the Host team, and instruct and demonstrate simple food preparation activities to unqualified staff.
• Understand the Avery Food Safety Management system and demonstrate the principles of safe food handling to ensure all food preparation undertaken in the kitchen is to the highest standards of hygiene

Our Ideal Candidate Must Have

• Experience in managing a busy kitchen and a minimum of 5 years' culinary experience
• Knowledge of health and safety, as well as current food safety legislation. Knowledge of COSHH and managing the cleaning of the culinary department to 5-star rating standards
• NVQ 3 in Food Production or equivalent/City and Guilds 706-1 706-2 Catering qualifications /Trained in IDDSI /textured modified diets
• Ability to work as part of a team and demonstrate leadership qualities
