Job summary

Avery Healthcare Group seeks a Regional Bank Chef to support the culinary operations across London and Surrey. You will manage a dedicated kitchen team, plan nutritionally balanced menus, and ensure high standards of hygiene within budget limits across multiple homes.

The role requires travel between homes, leadership skills, and adherence to health and safety policies. A DBS check will be completed by Avery, and UK work eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' culinary experience managing a busy kitchen.
• Knowledge of health and safety and current food safety legislation.
• COSHH knowledge and cleaning to 5-star rating standards.
• NVQ3 in Food Production or equivalent / IDDSI training.
• Ability to lead and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Place orders with approved suppliers within budget.
• Supervise kitchen staff and Host team; train unqualified staff.
• Demonstrate safe food handling and maintain hygiene standards per Avery system.

We are currently seeking a warm, enthusiastic, and dedicated individual to join our award-winning team as a Regional Bank Chef for the London and Surrey areas.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Regional Bank Chef, your primary responsibility will be supporting the daily operations of the culinary department. You will manage and guide a culinary team dedicated to providing nutritionally balanced, comprehensive, and high-quality meals that enhance the overall well-being of the residents while staying within budget. The role will involve travelling to various homes across the north.

Other responsibilities will include:

• Prepare nutritionally balanced menu plans for approval by the Home Manager, which provide varied, nutritious, and appetising meals for residents.
• Take account of any special dietary needs and retain records for inspection purposes.
• Place food orders, subject to appropriate levels of authority, with approved suppliers, complying with procedures to maintain proper stock levels and control, ensuring good quality provisions are purchased within agreed budget limits.
• Supervise and direct the work of other kitchen staff and the Host team, and instruct and demonstrate simple food preparation activities to unqualified staff.
• Understand the Avery Food Safety Management system and demonstrate the principles of safe food handling to ensure all food preparation undertaken in the kitchen is to the highest standards of hygiene.

• Experience in managing a busy kitchen and a minimum of 5 years' culinary experience.
• Knowledge of health and safety, as well as current food safety legislation.
• Knowledge of COSHH and managing the cleaning of the culinary department to 5-star rating standards.
• NVQ 3 in Food Production or equivalent/City and Guilds 706-1 706-2 Catering qualifications /Trained in IDDSI /textured modified diets.
• Ability to work as part of a team and demonstrate leadership qualities.
