Job summary

Avery Healthcare Group is seeking a Regional Bank Chef to support our homes across the Southwest Region. You will lead a culinary team, plan nutritionally balanced menus, and ensure high-quality meals within budget while travelling to various homes across the north.

Ideal candidates have at least 5 years in a busy kitchen, strong knowledge of health and safety, and LVN/IDDSI training. This full-time role offers a caring, supportive environment and opportunities to grow within a leading elder

• Knowledge of health and safety, COSHH, and maintaining 5-star kitchen hygiene standards.
• NVQ 3 in Food Production or City & Guilds 706-1 706-2; trained in IDDSI / textured modified diets.
• Ability to work as part of a team and demonstrate leadership qualities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare nutritionally balanced menu plans for approval by the Home Manager, considering dietary needs and maintaining records.
• Place food orders with approved suppliers, manage stock levels and stay within budget.
• Supervise and direct kitchen staff and Host team, teaching food prep to junior staff.
• Understand and apply Avery Food Safety Management system to ensure high hygiene standards.

Job description

We are currently seeking a warm, enthusiastic, and dedicated individual to join our award-winning team as a Regional Bank Chef supporting our homes across the Southwest Region. If this sounds like the place for you, we'd love to hear from you!, As the Regional Bank Chef, your primary responsibility will be supporting the daily operations of the culinary department. You will manage and guide a culinary team dedicated to providing nutritionally balanced, comprehensive, and high-quality meals that enhance the overall well-being of the residents while staying within budget. The role will involve travelling to various homes across the north. Other responsibilities will include:

Responsibilities

• Prepare nutritionally balanced menu plans for approval by the Home Manager, which provide varied, nutritious, and appetising meals for residents. Take account of any special dietary needs and retain records for inspection purposes.
• Place food orders, subject to appropriate levels of authority, with approved suppliers, complying with procedures to maintain proper stock levels and control, ensuring good quality provisions are purchased within agreed budget limits
• Supervise and direct the work of other kitchen staff and the Host team, and instruct and demonstrate simple food preparation activities to unqualified staff.
• Understand the Avery Food Safety Management system and demonstrate the principles of safe food handling to ensure all food preparation undertaken in the kitchen is to the highest standards of hygiene

Our ideal candidate must have

• Experience in managing a busy kitchen and a minimum of 5 years' culinary experience
• Knowledge of health and safety, as well as current food safety legislation. Knowledge of COSHH and managing the cleaning of the culinary department to 5-star rating standards
• NVQ 3 in Food Production or equivalent/City and Guilds 706-1 706-2 Catering qualifications /Trained in IDDSI /textured modified diets
• Ability to work as part of a team and demonstrate leadership qualities
