Job summary

Biffa Group is seeking a Regional Driver Development Coach to lead the development and training of our driver fleet across the UK. The role focuses on safety, compliance, and efficiency, working hands-on with real drivers to raise standards and performance.

You will recruit, onboard, train, and assess drivers, maintaining training records and supporting post-incident reassessment. A strong emphasis on continuous improvement and safety culture is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of HGV driving experience, including multiple HGV modes.
• Valid Class 1 HGV licence, DCPC and Digital Tachograph card.
• ADR qualification with waste vacuum tanker experience.
• Proven experience in driver training, and/or transport roles.

Responsibilities

• Recruitment and onboarding with a comprehensive 3-day Driver Induction aligned with standards and legislation.
• Ongoing driver training with refresher and mode training to enhance skills and customer experience.
• Maintain accurate driver competence and training records using Express Class.
• Post-incident reassessment and retraining for drivers after incidents.
• Regularly analyse driving data with management to identify and address support needs.
• Conduct targeted behavioural interventions to improve actions or behaviours.
• Pursue continuous improvement in training delivery and driver learning.

Role Purpose

Biffa Specialist Services Industrial delivers tailored waste solutions for businesses with complex requirements. We provide hazardous waste management, industrial cleaning, and specialist logistics services to customers across the UK, supporting a wide range of industries.

We are looking for an experienced Regional Driver Development Coach to play a critical role in ensuring our drivers operate safely, compliantly, and efficiently across our diverse divisional fleet.

This is a hands‑on, people‑focused role, ideal for someone passionate about developing drivers, improving standards, and making a measurable impact on safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Recruitment and Onboarding: Support the hiring process with pre‑employment assessments and deliver a comprehensive 3-day Driver Induction aligned with standards and legislation
• Ongoing Driver Training: Provide regular refresher and additional mode training to enhance driver skills and customer experience
• Record Management: Maintain accurate driver competence and training records using Express Class
• Post‑Incident Support: Offer reassessment and retraining for drivers following incidents
• Driving Performance Reviews: Regularly analyse driving data with management to identify and address support needs
• Behavioural Interventions: Conduct targeted support for drivers requiring improvements in actions or behaviours
• Continuous Improvement and Development: Enhance training delivery, optimise driver learning, and pursue personal professional development

Requirements

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 3 years of HGV driving experience, including multiple HGV modes.
• Valid Class 1 HGV licence, DCPC and Digital Tachograph card
• Valid ADR qualification with & Waste vacumn tanker experience?
• Proven experience in driver training, and or transport roles
• Organised, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement
• Strong working knowledge of driver legislation and health & safety requirements
