Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced nurse to join the leadership team on Regency Ward as Ward Manager. We welcome applications from Band 6 nurses or current Band 7 nurses.

Regency Ward is a 19-bed male acute inpatient ward at Mill View Hospital, Hove, serving individuals aged 18-65.

Ward Managers are key to maintaining high standards, acting as role models, and supporting their teams. We value a team-oriented culture where staff and patient ideas are listened to and encouraged.

Role Responsibilities

The Ward Manager will lead a clinical team, ensuring high-quality care on Regency Ward. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Managing and leading a multidisciplinary team providing 24-hour care, including assessment, planning, and evaluation of patient care.
  2. Promoting high performance standards and effective team management.
  3. Ensuring service delivery within budget and resource constraints.
  4. Fostering a culture of risk management.
  5. Acting as a role model and resource for staff.
  6. Representing the clinical area in meetings and forums.
  7. Driving continuous improvement and ensuring a psychologically safe environment for staff and patients.
Candidate Requirements
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN)
  • Experience in acute mental health care and staff supervision
  • Leadership skills, clinical expertise, and excellent communication
  • Ability to prioritize and work under pressure
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting patient and staff safety
Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree or diploma level education with relevant qualification or equivalent experience
  • Current registration with the NMC
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Mentorship qualification or equivalent
