The Vacancy
Job Purpose:
This is a key position, responsible for planned and reactive maintenance across multiple sites. You will be the first point of contact for service and maintenance at your assigned locations, focusing on refrigeration equipment and supporting HVAC systems containing refrigeration circuits.
The engineering team provides 24-hour service coverage throughout the year, including participation in standby rota procedures.
Key Accountabilities:
- Prioritize maintenance and repair work to meet specified response times.
- Identify faults that are non-repairable, advise the Line Manager, and recommend replacements.
- Ensure PPM schedules are completed on time and all paperwork is accurately filled out.
- Maintain up-to-date technical and compliance documentation.
- Participate in out-of-hours standby rota and communicate cover requirements.
- Adhere to relevant regulations and codes of practice.
- Order and install parts as per company procedures.
- Notify the helpdesk upon task completion.
- Report repair, maintenance, and installation issues affecting store operations to GSMs and build good relationships with colleagues.
- Respond promptly to service requests, assess needs, and carry out necessary repairs.
- Complete surveys and reports as required by supervisors.
- Perform all work to high standards, efficiently and safely, in compliance with health and safety policies.
- Complete tasks within designated timeframes to satisfaction.
- Communicate effectively in writing and verbally, including report writing and record keeping.
- Attend relevant training to stay current with technical and business developments.
- Complete all mandatory online training modules.
- Comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act and company policies at all times.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain quality standards.
- Represent the company professionally and foster good relationships with clients and partners.
- Follow any other reasonable instructions from management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Time Served Apprenticeship
- NVQ/C&G Refrigeration Qualification
- Approved Training Program
- Refrigerant Handling C&G 2079 or equivalent CITB certificate
- Skill Card
- Knowledge of refrigeration, electrical, air conditioning, and mechanical systems
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work at heights and use access equipment
- Valid full driving license
- Availability for out-of-hours work
- GCSEs or equivalent
- Knowledge of future legislation: BS7671 (IEE 16/17th), BSEN 378 (BS4434)
