Refrigeration Engineer

We are seeking a Refrigeration Engineer to join our 24/7 Swindon Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Site. Operating within a small team in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment, you should be self-motivated and confident to work autonomously.

The primary responsibility is to perform both planned and reactive maintenance to ensure reliable service to production, while seeking opportunities for plant improvements through innovative ideas and modifications.

The Role

1. Perform scheduled Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on utility equipment, including industrial/commercial refrigeration systems.
2. Diagnose faults and repair utilities equipment at the facility.
3. Record equipment history on the engineering computer system and complete required documentation.
4. Provide detailed handovers to engineering colleagues.
5. Follow procedures, health and safety standards, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) to maintain compliance.
6. Manage contractors in accordance with health and safety policies and site procedures.
7. Initiate process improvements and support efforts to enhance equipment reliability.
8. Stay updated on current regulatory requirements relevant to your area of expertise.

The Person

• Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Servicing and Maintaining Refrigeration Systems or equivalent.
• F-GAS 2079 CAT 1 certification.
• Proven experience in the refrigeration service industry.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Qualifications in electrical or mechanical engineering are advantageous.
• Experience with utilities such as boilers, chillers, HVAC, water systems, compressors, BMS, refrigeration equipment is advantageous.
• Previous pharmaceutical engineering experience is advantageous.
• Experience with Freeze Dryers is advantageous.
• Experience working in shifts is advantageous.
• A positive, proactive attitude with a focus on continuous improvement and results.
• Ability to collaborate and influence at different organizational levels.
• Strong analytical skills to assess requirements and determine the best approach.
• Maintain professionalism and high standards at all times.
