Job summary

Fowler Welch in Portsmouth is seeking an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver to operate refrigerated articulated vehicles and deliver chilled stock across the UK. Training is provided, and shifts run 4 on 4 off with day schedules starting between 10:00 and 13:00.

You’ll complete paperwork, follow safety rules and maintain vehicle checks. The role demands a valid HGV Class 1 licence, CPC and the ability to work under pressure.

Qualifications

• Must possess HGV Class 1 licence and valid CPC.
• Knowledge of the Road Transport Directive and drivers’ hours.
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
• Prioritise workload to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Ensure correct and thorough completion of paperwork
• Observe and adhere to company rules and procedures, including all aspects of health, safety and hygiene
• Maintain a good working knowledge of operations within the transport department
• Effectively manage own working time in line with the Road Transport Directive
• Adhere to tachograph rules and regulations at all times
• Ensure daily vehicle checks are completed in line with company procedure
• Responsible for unit and trailer, including temperature checks
• Ensure proof of deliveries (PODs) are signed and returned to the Transport Office after delivery
• Achieve and succeed fuel efficiency targets set by the business
• Any other duties as reasonably required
