Job summary

Fowler Welch in Portsmouth is recruiting a HGV Class 1 Driver for a 4 on 4 off night shift. You will operate refrigerated artic vehicles, delivering and collecting from distribution centres, farms and packhouses across the UK.

Starting times are between 22:00 and 00:00 with pay that reflects shifts and nights. The role includes paperwork, health and safety compliance, and adherence to tachograph rules, with full CPC training funded on paid days.

Qualifications

• Possession of HGV Class 1 Licence.
• Current CPC qualification.
• Knowledge of Road Transport Directive and drivers’ hours.
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
• Effectively prioritise workload to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Ensure correct and thorough completion of paperwork.
• Adhere to health, safety and hygiene rules and procedures.
• Maintain working knowledge of transport operations.
• Manage own working time in line with Road Transport Directive.
• Adhere to tachograph rules and regulations at all times.
• Complete daily vehicle checks as per procedure.
• Monitor unit and trailer, including temperature checks.
• Obtain PODs and return to Transport Office after delivery.
• Aim for fuel efficiency targets set by the business.
• Perform any other duties as reasonably required.
