Job description

Help Students Reset, Refocus and Reach Their Potential

Medina College is looking to appoint a dedicated and student-focused Reflection Room Supervisor to lead and support our Reflection Room provision. This is a rewarding, highly student-facing role for someone who can build positive relationships, maintain high expectations and provide a calm, consistent environment where students can reflect, re-engage with their learning and make positive choices.

Medina College (including The Island VI Form) is a proud member of HISP Multi Academy Trust. A forward-thinking educational community, our shared vision is to create and promote supportive environments that eliminate barriers to education and empower individuals.

Our school values are Ambition, Courage, Confidence and Kindness, supporting our vision that at Medina College, every young person deserves a path - a journey that nurtures ambition, builds confidence, and empowers each learner to discover who they are, what they can do, and who they can become.

These link closely to the MAT values and are at the heart of everything we do. We are guided by Courage, Ambition, Excellence, Sustainability, Equity, and always putting Pupils First. These values shape how we work together, support one another, and create an inclusive, inspiring environment where every pupil—and every member of staff—can thrive.

About the role

The post holder will lead the day-to-day operation of the Reflection Room, providing a calm, purposeful and supportive environment for students experiencing barriers to learning through challenging behaviour.

The role is highly student-facing and involves supporting, supervising and engaging students throughout their time in the Reflection Room, helping them to manage their behaviour, complete work set by teachers and develop the skills and confidence needed to successfully return to learning. You will work closely with Heads of Year, Pastoral Leads and the SENDCo to understand individual needs, provide appropriate support and follow up where students require further intervention.

You will also monitor attendance, behaviour and progress, maintain accurate records and use data to evaluate the impact of the provision and inform appropriate interventions. The role requires someone who can build positive relationships with students while maintaining high expectations, clear boundaries and a calm, consistent approach.
