Job summary

Roxel Group is seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer on a fixed-term contract to lead cross-functional CI initiatives across the UK sites. You will champion Lean methods, mentor teams, collect and analyse data, and drive revenue-saving improvements while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

The role reports to the CI Team Leader and sits within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in CI, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, and strong data analysis capability, with a

Qualifications

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification from a recognised body.
  • BSc or BA in Business, Engineering, Operations, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent).
  • Black Belt toward certification is desirable.
  • 5+ years industry experience in continuous improvement.
  • Proven track record delivering measurable improvement via Lean/Continuous Improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Promote zero-harm safety culture and comply with HSE policies.
  • Lead and deliver CI projects across functions using Lean/ DMAIC.
  • Drive engagement and training within the CI team.
  • Analyse data to identify trends, root causes and improvements.
  • Map current and future processes to find waste and optimise flow.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure sustained benefits.

Roxel is an Anglo-French Company that designs, develops and manufactures a range of solid propellant rocket motors for use in tactical missiles. Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France and it has an annual turnover of about £250M and nearly 1000 staff, with 300 in the UK.

Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Team Leader, the purpose of this role is to support the management and facilitation of continuous improvement projects and initiatives across the organisation. The role will work across functional departments to improve production and support processes in line with business needs and growth. This person will be a change agent with the courage and drive to champion improvement within the business with the ability to motivate others to achieve results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Promote zero harm objective by operating in accordance with any Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors and pro-actively promote and support SWIM.
  • Work with the Continuous Improvement Team Leader to drive continuous improvement within the business and identify opportunities for improvement including deployment of Operational Excellence Initiative, Customer Improvement projects, Lean Journey & QRQC.
  • Drive engagement with Participative Innovation across the business.
  • Working with the Continuous Improvement Team Leader – creating, organizing and delivering training to the targeted scope.
  • Active involvement in project identification, prioritisation, progress monitoring, tracking of results and reporting findings across the organisation using Lean techniques (DMAIC).
  • Collect, clean, and analyse data using tools such as Excel or BI platforms to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
  • Map current-state and future-state processes (e.g., SIPOC, process maps, value stream maps) to identify inefficiencies and areas of waste.
  • Support pipeline development by gathering business requirements, performing initial opportunity assessments, and contributing to prioritisation discussions.
  • Ensure all completed continuous improvement projects are embedded and sustained.
  • Actively engage with peers internally and across the group to share and ensure best practice implementation.
  • Use agreed metrics to validate the requirement for projects and recommendation of resource allocation.
  • Support operational performance enhancement through the application of Lean techniques.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement activities such as daily stand-ups (SQCDPI / QRQC), Kaizen events, and retrospective sessions to identify further optimisation opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with cross functional teams working collaboratively to drive improvement programmes.
  • Project implementation and management.
  • To perform any other duties necessary, as requested to by the business to carry out job function.
Experience and Background
Qualifications:
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification from a recognised body (e.g., ASQ, IASSC, or equivalent).
  • BSc or BA in in Business, Engineering, Operations, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Black Belt certification or progression towards it.
Experience:
  • 5+ years industry experience.
  • Demonstrable competence of measurable project delivery (e.g., cost savings, revenue growth, efficiency gains, cycle time reduction) through the application of continuous improvement practices.
  • A proven track record of spearheading operational excellence and business improvement initiatives.
  • Experience of use of Microsoft tools and data analysis tools to drive informed decision-making.
Desirable Experience:
  • Experience of compliance to industry standards and quality management systems, with a particular focus on EN9100 requirements.
