Job summary

Thrive Oldham is recruiting a Recycling Operative for sites in Market Harborough, Kibworth and Lutterworth in Leicestershire. You will assist customers to dispose of waste materials and help maximise site recycling rates.

Role requires a UK driving licence and own vehicle to cover shifts at different locations. Hours are 9am-7pm, 4 days on 2 off, weekends included. Thrive are acting as an Employment Business.

Qualifications

• Must be able to drive and have own vehicle as they be asked to cover shifts in other locations within and around Leicestershire.
• Willing to cover shifts at different locations within Leicestershire.
• Experience in waste disposal or customer service is welcome.

Responsibilities

• Assist and advise customers to dispose of waste materials at RHWS, maximising site recycling rates.
• Ensure waste streams are not mixed, and are separated correctly.
• Maintain clean loads of recyclates and prevent contamination before disposal.
• Follow Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental management systems and safe working practices.
• Maintain compliance with all legislative requirements including licences.
• Communicate with customers and respond to queries or complaints.
• Support achievement of service levels and targeted recycling rates at sites.

What you will be doing:

Assist and advise customers to dispose of waste materials at RHWS, whilst maximising site recycling rates

Corporate Responsibilities

1. Ensure that services are delivered for the benefit of the people of Leicestershire
2. Maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with customers and colleagues within the team and across the service
3. Ensure activities are delivered in the most efficient and effective manner possible

Service Responsibilities

1. Assist and advise with the recycling and disposal of waste materials at all RHWS, offering to show or help customers rather than tell them the correct place to deposit their waste
2. Ensure waste streams are not mixed, and are separated correctly
3. Maintain and ensure clean loads of recyclates before sending to disposal point and that loads that leave the site are not contaminated
4. Maintain RHWS services in accordance with Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental management systems and follow health and safety procedures and safe systems of work
5. Maintain compliance with all legislative requirements including the site operating and environmental licences
6. Maintain a clean and tidy work environment
7. Check permits for vans and trailers, or for permitted waste
8. Ensure maintenance schedules are adhered to
9. Ensure data is correctly entered when completing requisitions and tonnage returns
10. Identify opportunities to improve customer service and recycling rates
11. Communicate with customers, responding to queries or complaints. Build effective relationships through customer contact and consistency of approach in all customer communications
12. Support the achievement of all service levels, particularly targeted recycling rates at sites

Special Factors

• The nature of the work will involve the jobholder carrying out work outside of normal working hours, including bank holidays, weekends and out of hours working
• The nature of the work will involve the jobholder carrying out work at different locations than their designated base
• The jobholder may be required to attend, from time to time, training courses, conferences, seminars or other meetings as required by his/her own training needs and the needs of the service
• Expenses will be paid in accordance with the Local Conditions of Service

Candidates must be able to drive and have their own vehicle as they be asked to cover shifts in other locations within and around Leicestershire, also some of the sites are quite remote.

Working Hours are: between - 9am-7pm (including weekends) 4 days on 2 days off
