Job summary

Workchain is recruiting a Recycling Operative to support a household recycling centre in Cheltenham. The role is permanent with daytime shifts and a focus on practical, outdoor work, helping keep the site clean and compliant with safety standards.

You will assist with daily operations, guide residents in using the correct containers, monitor bins and report needs, and maintain a tidy, hazard-free environment.

Qualifications

• Reliability and punctuality; able to work outdoors.
• Physically fit and able to carry out active duties.
• Able to follow instructions and work safely.
• Confident communicating with the public and colleagues.
• Experience in recycling or waste management is useful but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the day-to-day operation of the recycling centre
• Help members of the public place materials into the correct recycling and waste containers
• Monitor containers and report when they require emptying or attention
• Keep working areas clean, tidy and free from hazards
• Follow site procedures, health and safety requirements and environmental standards
• Support the team with general duties as required
• Provide polite and helpful customer service
