Job summary

Barking Abbey School, A Specialist Sports and Humanities College, is seeking a Recruitment and Engagement Manager to design and lead a modern recruitment function across our federation of schools. You will attract exceptional talent and craft stories that showcase us as an employer of choice.

You will oversee end-to-end recruitment, develop innovative attraction strategies, manage platforms and ATS, and create content for websites and social media, while ensuring safeguarding and compliant

Qualifications

  • Experience in copywriting and storytelling for recruitment campaigns.
  • Ability to develop engaging recruitment content and messaging.
  • Proven track record coordinating recruitment campaigns across multiple sites.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration with managers and agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end recruitment and candidate engagement across the partnership.
  • Develop creative recruitment campaigns and talent attraction strategies.
  • Manage recruitment platforms, careers pages and ATS workflows.

Job description

RECRUITMENT AND ENGAGEMENT MANAGER

Start Date: As soon as possible

Salary: S02, Pt 26-28 (£40,182-£42,060 (FT)) pro rata salary, likely to be between approx. (£35,450-£37,107) subject to experience working days and continuous service

35 hours per week, term time plus 10 days (throughout the year in agreement with the School Business Manager)

Working Hours: 08:00 to 16:00

We are looking for an ambitious and creative professional bring your passion and skills to our growing partnership of schools at an exciting stage of development as a Recruitment and Engagement Manager. As we continue to strengthen and expand our central services, this newly created role offers a unique opportunity to design, develop and lead a modern recruitment and engagement function that attracts exceptional talent and supports an outstanding employee experience.

We are looking for someone who can authentically communicate what makes our schools great places to work, while continuously improving recruitment processes, candidate engagement and workforce development across the partnership. If you’d love to help us tell our story, we’d love to meet you!

About the Role

This is a role where your ideas will be valued and where you will have real scope to help shape and improve the way our recruitment services are delivered across our partnership schools. Working closely with leaders, line managers and agencies, you will help develop and improve recruitment systems, processes and services, always looking for smarter, more effective ways of working that support our staff and school community.

You will lead the end-to-end recruitment process across our schools, developing innovative attraction strategies, managing recruitment campaigns and creating engaging content that strengthens our reputation as an employer of choice. This role is ideal for someone who will think strategically about channels and messaging, bolster recruitment and monitor efficacy.

The successful candidate will:
  • Lead and coordinate all recruitment and candidate engagement activities across the partnership.
  • Develop creative recruitment campaigns and marketing strategies to attract high-quality candidates.
  • Manage recruitment platforms, careers pages and applicant tracking systems.
  • Create compelling recruitment content for websites, social media and promotional materials.
  • Support hiring managers with recruitment planning, interview processes and candidate selection.
  • Analyse recruitment data and identify opportunities to improve attraction, retention and recruitment outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain recruitment resources, onboarding materials and recruitment documentation.
  • Ensure all recruitment activity complies with safeguarding, safer recruitment and employment legislation.
  • Support employee engagement and workforce development initiatives across the partnership.
  • Build positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
