Job summary

Haringey Council is seeking a Wet Side Lifeguard for Park Road Leisure Centre, London, to ensure safety and enjoyment of the swimming facilities. You will supervise pool activities, respond to incidents, administer first aid and maintain a professional presence around the centre.

Additional duties include preparing facilities, cleaning, assisting customers, and contributing to a welcoming environment. A current NPLQ or equivalent is essential for this role.

Work location: Park Road Leisure Centre & Lido, Park Road, London, N8 8JN

Hours: 8-36 contracted for every week

About The Role

As a Wet Side Lifeguard, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, enjoyment and wellbeing of customers using our swimming facilities. You will supervise pool activities, respond to incidents, administer first aid when required, and provide a visible, professional presence around the leisure centre.

In addition to lifeguarding duties, you will help prepare facilities for activities, carry out cleaning and maintenance checks, support customers with enquiries, and contribute to creating a welcoming environment for all visitors. A current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or equivalent is essential for this role.

About The Team

You will join a friendly and supportive team dedicated to delivering high-quality leisure services to the local community. Working alongside Duty Managers, Shift Supervisors and fellow Recreation Assistants, you will help ensure the centre operates safely, efficiently and to the highest standards of customer service. The team takes pride in creating an inclusive environment where residents of all ages and abilities can enjoy swimming, fitness and recreational activities.

About You

You are a confident and approachable individual with excellent customer service skills and a genuine commitment to health, safety and community wellbeing. You enjoy working with people, communicating clearly, and remaining calm under pressure. You are able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, and are happy to take a hands-on approach to maintaining high standards across the facility. You’ll be reliable, professional, and flexible enough to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Most importantly, you’ll be passionate about providing a safe, welcoming and enjoyable experience for every customer who visits the centre.
