As a Recovery Worker, you will provide support and advice to individuals experiencing difficulties due to substance misuse. You will manage your own caseload, working as part of our team and collaborating with other social care services to identify how we can assist. You will develop plans with your clients to help them regain control of their lives. Our approach is professional, non-judgmental, and focused on helping. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, maintaining accurate records, and adhering to our service standards.

Our vibrant services in Wigan and Leigh support those concerned about their own or others' alcohol or drug use. While we have services in both locations, much of our work is community-based.

About this job

You will work with the following aims:

  1. Ensuring client safety
  2. Creating achievable plans with client support
  3. Monitoring and reviewing client progress
  4. Maintaining accurate contact records
  5. Collaborating with other social care providers, e.g., Housing, for comprehensive recovery
  6. Engaging in continuous learning and reflection to improve outcomes
  7. Supporting colleagues to deliver excellent care

To succeed in this role, you should:

  • Have attained ONC/NVQ Level 3 or be willing to achieve this within 12 months
  • Possess experience in health, social care, or related fields
  • Be capable of building effective relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Work well within a team and support others
  • Remain resilient under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Have good oral and written communication skills
  • Be comfortable using IT and digital media
  • Be organized and manage your time effectively
  • Be flexible with working hours occasionally
  • Support other WithYou locations when needed

Priority is given to applicants who:

  • Have previous experience working with substance users
  • Possess knowledge of health and safety, including risk assessments
  • Hold a driving license and have access to a vehicle (preferred but not essential)

You must also meet safeguarding requirements, including a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with occasional work until 7pm on a rotational basis.
