Job description

As a Recovery Worker, you will provide support and advice to people experiencing difficulties due to substance misuse.

Main duties of the job

You will work as part of a team with the aims of:

  1. Understanding your clients
  2. Keeping them safe
  3. Creating a plan they can achieve with your support
  4. Checking in with them and reviewing their progress
  5. Keeping accurate and timely records of your contact with them
  6. Working effectively with other social care providers (e.g., Housing) to support successful recovery
  7. Continuously learning and reflecting to improve client outcomes
  8. Supporting colleagues across the service to deliver excellent care

Job responsibilities

You will manage your own caseload, working with a team and alongside other social care services to identify needs and develop plans to help clients regain control of their lives. We approach each case professionally and non-judgmentally, focusing solely on support. You will carry out assessments, keep records, and provide community support in Wigan and Leigh, working mainly in local communities. Interested? Apply now to join our team. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm, with occasional evening shifts until 7pm on a rotational basis.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • ONC/NVQ Level 3 or willingness to achieve within 12 months
  • Satisfactory enhanced DBS check
  • Driving license and access to a vehicle preferred but not essential
Experience
  • Some experience in health, social care, or related fields
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships
  • Teamwork and resilience under pressure
  • Good communication skills (oral and written)
  • Competent with IT and digital media
  • Organized and effective time management
  • Flexible working hours occasionally
  • Willingness to support other locations as needed

Priority will be given to applicants with experience working with substance users and knowledge of health and safety in high-risk situations.
