Job summary

Change Grow Live in Barnet is seeking a Recovery Worker to deliver engaging recovery groups, workshops and structured interventions across programmes. You will support service users throughout treatment and recovery, delivering harm-reduction focused interventions and preparing recovery plans.

The role emphasizes evidence-based group work, Atlas facilitation, and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams to drive positive change and wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of substance misuse, recovery and harm reduction approaches.
  • Experience in drug and alcohol services, healthcare, social care or related field.
  • Experience facilitating groups and managing group dynamics.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to service users from first contact through treatment and recovery journey.
  • Deliver tailored interventions reducing harm from opiate use via group sessions or one-on-one engagement.
  • Facilitation of the Atlas programme.
  • Ensure service users receive a comprehensive recovery-focused plan including pre-detox and post-care support.
  • Research, design and prepare subject matter and materials for groups/pods.
  • Engage in debriefings and evaluations with co-facilitators after groups/pods.
  • Lead graduation events for service users who complete the programme.
  • Review service user feedback and adjust as necessary.
  • Tailor workshops to needs of service users (anger management, sleep disorders, relationships).
  • Research and confirm community venues as needed.

Recovery Worker - Programmes Group

This role will focus on delivering engaging and evidence-based recovery groups, workshops and structured interventions, while also supporting service users throughout their treatment and recovery journey.

Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, salary and benefits will be pro rata based on contracted hours.

Responsibilities
About the Role
  • Provide unwavering support to service users from their initial contact with our servicethroughout their treatment and recovery journey.
  • Implement tailored interventions aimed at reducing the harm caused by opiate use, either through group sessions or one-on-one engagement.
  • Facilitaiton of the Atlas programme
  • Ensure service users receive a comprehensive, recovery-focused plan, including pre-detox preparation and post-care support.
  • Research, design and prepare subject matter and materials for groups/pods.
  • Engage with debriefing and evaluations with co-facilitator/s after groups/pods have taken place.
  • Lead on graduation events for service users who have completed the programme.
  • Review service user feedback and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Tailor specific workshops around the needs of the SUs, such as: anger management, sleep disorders, relationships, etc.
  • Research and confirm community venues as needed
About You

You will ideally bring:

Essential
  • A strong understanding of substance misuse, recovery and harm reduction approaches.
  • Experience working within drug and alcohol services, healthcare, social care or a related field.
  • Experience facilitating groups and managing group dynamics effectively.
  • Knowledge and experience of motivational interviewing and psychosocial interventions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
  • The ability to build effective therapeutic relationships with a diverse range of people.
  • Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
Desirable
  • Experience developing and delivering structured recovery programmes.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed approaches.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based group interventions
  • Relevant qualification in counselling, group work, mental health, health and social care or a related discipline.
