Job summary

Together for Mental Wellbeing is seeking Mental Health Recovery Workers in Norwich to support individuals facing complex mental health challenges. Qualifications

NIHCSS is a partnership between Together for Mental Wellbeing and St Martins Housing. We support people over the age of 18 who have severe, complex, and enduring mental health needs.

We are looking for two Mental Health Recovery Workers to join our dedicated teams in Norwich, covering community clients in South Norfolk and Central Norwich at our supported living accommodation sites in NR2.

You will support people going through difficult times, drawing on your knowledge and experience to connect, help them discover their strengths, and develop skills leading to wellness. This is only possible with people like you!

You must be able to drive and have a vehicle willing to be used for work purposes. Business insurance will be required, along with a commitment to cover shifts including sleep-ins, paid at an additional £55 per shift.

This is a fixed-term position until 31st December 2025.

Responsibilities
  1. Establish and maintain trusting relationships with service users to enhance engagement.
  2. Help service users set, prioritize, and achieve personal goals to increase hope, motivation, and ambition.
  3. Work flexibly with service users in their homes and/or in the community.
  4. Value and utilize the lived experience of service users to support each other and improve services.
  5. Reach out to marginalized or minority populations in the community.
  6. Carry out assessments and determine the urgency of service needs.
  7. Collaborate with other professionals and make onward referrals to community opportunities.
  8. Conduct risk assessments to ensure safety and improve support quality.
  9. Motivate and support service users to maintain safe housing, manage finances, and navigate benefits and education systems.
  10. Assist with managing relationships, bills, forms, mail, and appointments, including accompanying to appointments as needed.
  11. Adhere to policies on lone working.
  12. Make timely, concise, and understandable records using computer systems.
  13. Write clear reports and records in English, both handwritten and word processed.
  14. Participate in mandatory and job-related training and learning activities.
  15. Maintain professional boundaries in all work aspects with service users.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential
  • Experience supporting vulnerable individuals through paid, voluntary, or personal life experience.
  • Minimum GCSE or Level II qualification in English or equivalent.
  • Basic skills in email and word processing software.
  • Non-judgemental attitude, empathy, and ability to create a trusting environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries and a safe environment.
  • Problem-solving skills related to housing, welfare benefits, and relationships.
  • Willingness to participate in learning and collaborate with colleagues and organizations.
Desirable
  • Lived experience of mental distress.
  • NVQ Level II in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
