Waythrough launched in October 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship. Our vision is to break down the barriers that stop people getting the support they need to live a life they value. We tackle poverty and disadvantage in communities, through mental health, drug and alcohol, housing and related support.

We have almost 200 services around England – and nearly 3,500 amazing staff and volunteers who run them. Every year our services support around 125,000 people.

Bringing together two big organisations is not a small task and it’ll take a while to fully integrate our systems, processes and approaches. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team in Newton Abbot as a Recovery Worker.
Location: Templar House, Unit 2, Scott Close, Newton Abbot, TQ12 1GJ
Contract:Fixed Term (1 year)

About the role…
As a Recovery Worker, you'll play a crucial role in guiding individuals toward recovery, offering tailored support, and coordinating services for their well-being. If you're passionate about making a difference in people's lives, join us in this impactful position.

Day to day duties include:

  • Manage a caseload, devising, implementing, and reviewing ongoing recovery and treatment plans.
  • Facilitate and promote individuals’ progression from initial engagement, through structured treatment, to self-sustained recovery.
  • Reduce substance-related harm to individuals and the wider community.
  • Working collaboratively with key partners and colleagues to achieve the best health and well-being outcomes for individuals.

About you:
Whether you come from a strong background in the substance misuse sector, have experience in mental health support, have a history in the criminal justice field, or possess a relevant academic background, we welcome you to join our diverse team. We believe that various experiences contribute to our comprehensive support and care mission. Specifically, we are seeking individuals withone or moreof the following professional experiences:
  • Substance misuse background
  • Mental health background
  • Criminal justice background
  • A relevant academic background such as Criminology, Psychology, Law or Sociology
  • A strong portfolio of volunteering in a similar role
  • Case management experience and the ability to manage expectations in this emotionally demanding role are highly valued for their contributions to our mission of consistent, high-quality care.
