Job summary

Change Grow Live in Barnet is recruiting a Recovery Worker focused on alcohol dependence to engage and assess service users and to deliver timely, personalised interventions that cater to their needs. You will provide screening, assessment, recovery planning and onward referrals, support social reintegration, and help drive recovery, resilience and peer support within structured group settings.

This permanent, full-time role is 37.5 hours per week with pro rata salary for part-time, a supportive

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of substance misuse issues and related field experience.
  • Experience with groups/pods and managing group dynamics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with good IT skills.
  • Proactive, able to work on own initiative with strong time management.

Responsibilities

  • Support service users from entry into the service through their treatment/recovery journey.
  • Screening, assessment, recovery planning and onward referrals.
  • Reduce alcohol-related harm to service users and the wider community.
  • Promote involvement of carers, service users and the community.
  • Advocacy for access to partnership services.
  • Support social reintegration and recovery through peer support.
  • Design and deliver group content and materials; lead and debrief groups with co-facilitators.
  • Tailor workshops (e.g., anger management, sleep, relationships).
  • Support monthly community detox with the alcohol team.

Exciting Opportunity: Recovery Worker (focusing on alcohol dependence)

Are you experienced, skilled, and passionate about making a meaningful difference? We are recruiting for a Recovery Worker to join our Barnet service to engage and assess our service users, ensuring they receive timely, personalised interventions that cater to their unique needs.

Full Time Hours: 37.5 per week

Contract Type: Permanent

Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.

Responsibilities
About the role:
  • Supporting service users from point of entry into the service and through their treatment/recovery journey
  • Providing screening, assessment, and recovery planning and onward referral
  • Reducing alcohol related harm to service users and the wider community
  • Promoting carer, service user and community involvement
  • Providing advocacy for access to partnership services
  • Working with service users to support social (re)integration, enabling them to lead meaningful and purposeful lives: promoting recovery, resilience, peer support and self-determination
  • Research, design and prepare subject matter and materials for groups / pods.
  • Deliver structured content within group settings to service users at various stages of recovery
  • Engage with debriefing and evaluations with co-facilitators after groups/pods have taken place, reviewing progress and identifying concerns with service users
  • Tailor specific workshops around the needs of the service users, such as: anger management, sleep disorders, relationships, etc
  • Supporting the alcohol team with the monthly community detox

About you:

  • Have a strong understandingof substance misuse issues and experience of working within a similar field
  • Experience of working with groups/pods and managing group dynamics, such as conflict or challenging behaviour.
  • Be an excellent communicator, both verbal and writtenwith good IT skills
  • Proactiveand able to work on own initiativewith excellent time management and prioritising skills
  • Have a good working knowledgeof mental health interventions,services,and good practice
  • Be a supportive team player with strong interpersonal skillswith the ability to work in partnership with a wide range of professionals,agencies,and internal/external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage change successfully in a way that prioritises the needs of service users
  • Understand the importance of information governance processes and commit to follow and apply all necessary safeguards
  • Seek out learning opportunities to improve and broaden your professional knowledge and skills and to contribute and oversee the learning and development of others

Salary Range (pro rata if part time)

CGL points 23 to 28 (£28,557.79 - £32,802.41)
